Google Opens Their First Branded Store In London

The Google Store

That’s right Googlers, there’s now a brick and mortar outlet selling Google products in London. The new store, which was opened on Tottenham Court Road, marks the first of its kind, as it’s the first branded shop opened by the company since their inception.

The tech giant previously opened a “Chromezone” on the same street back in 2011 and they’ve also opened “Androidland” shops in Australia.

The store, which is called “The Google” shop according to a Telegraph report, sells Android tablets and phones, Chromecast related services, and the company’s Chromebook laptops.

In addition to selling their products and services at their new shop, they’re also offering tutorials and demonstrations which cover how to use their devices and apps.

Amazon is rumored to be contemplating opening their own brick and mortar shop in New York, but the rumor has not been confirmed.

The new store is a shop within a shop, as it’s located within Currys PC World on Tottenham Court Road. The area is, according to a Daily Mail report, renowned for its technology stores.

Google’s UK marketing director James Elias was quoted by The Telegraph as having said that the company is “incredibly excited to launch this space” and that the new shop offers customers and potential customers an opportunity to “play, experiment and learn about all of what” the company has to offer.

We’re incredibly excited to launch this space – the first of its kind anywhere in the world – in London with Currys PC World. […] The pace of innovation of the devices we all use is incredible, yet the way we buy them has remained the same for years. With the Google shop, we want to offer people a place where they can play, experiment and learn about all of what Google has to offer; from an incredible range of devices to a totally-connected, seamless online life. […] We think it’s a genuinely unique try-before-you-buy experience.
