Chris Brown Party Interrupted By Shooting, 5 Injured

Five people were shot during a Chris Brown nightclub performance in San Jose on Sunday morning.

Brown was performing “Loyal” at Fiesta nightclub when a fight broke out and resulted in gunshots. According to San Jose police, gunfire was reported at 1:30 am. Officers arrived and found four people with gunshot wounds, who were taken to the hospital. A fifth shooting victim walked into a hospital shortly afterward, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

We did respond to an incident at about 1:20 this morning. It was a private party being hosted by Chris Brown, as well as a local DJ. We don’t know if it was a scheduled performance but it was an event where he was in attendance.

While the conditions of the victims are unknown, police said all are expected to recover. Brown was not injured.

Brown was in San Jose to perform a “birthday bash” thrown by 106 KMEL, a San Francisco hip-hop station. Local KMEL DJ’s Big Von and Black Marc were advertised as providing music at the event at the club. Ticket prices for the event ranged from $50 to $2,500, according to Rolling Stone.

Videos of the event show Brown performing when shots are heart and guests begin scrambling to get out of the venue. Brown is seen being surrounded by his security team and escorted away.

The Grammy-winning artist is preparing to start a national arena tour at the end of January. His fans remain local as he battles an image issue after a string of run-ins with the law, including violent incidents with other celebrities, the most infamous of which was a 2009 domestic violence case involving singer Rhianna, according to Entertainment Weekly.
