Touchjet Wave Raises Over $550K On Indiegogo To Convert TVs Into Touchscreen PCs

Touchjet Wave

Touchjet Wave, a product which converts flat-screen TVs into touchscreen tablets, has managed to rake in over $550,000 on Indiegogo — leaving the crowdfunding campaign more than 550 percent funded as the campaign’s original goal was set at just $100,000.

At just $129 plus the cost of shipping, it is perhaps no surprise that the Wave’s makers tout it as “the most affordable way to turn your TV into a giant tablet” equipped with a touch, stylus and remote app based control system.

Touchjet WAVE is the most affordable way to turn your TV into a giant tablet with finger, stylus, and remote app control.

So not only can a Wave converted television be controlled up close and personal like a touchscreen tablet, but it can also be used controlled remotely — only with the added benefit of running Google’s Android 4.4 operating system, which allows it to run any Android app.

Wave’s mobile app, which is available for both Apple as well as Android devices, converts smartphones and tablets alike into remote controls. Not only does it convert phones and tablets into TV remotes, it also has the added functionality of serving as a keyboard, mouse, or even a gaming controller.

Converting a TV into an Android PC certainly has its benefits, as it allows users to not only download and use apps, but to stream movies, music and even play games — which is where that added functionality of a gaming controller comes in handy.

Wave is capable of streaming videos from services such as Netflix, YouTube, Hulu and more without the need to connect to other devices. But for its less entertainment oriented users, it helps open up collaborative possibilities through its interactive whiteboard feature which integrates such apps as PowerPoint and MightyMeeting.

Presently, the HDMI-connected device is only designed to work with television sets between 20 and 80 inches which are capable of 1080p or 720p at 60/50Hz, or 4K at 24/25/30hz.

Hardware wise, Touchjet Waves are running on 2.0GHz Quad-Core ARM Cortex-A9  processors with 1GB of DDR3 memory and 8GB of flash storage space. They offer built-in WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), integrated optical touch sensors with support for four touch points and an infrared stylus. For those that care to acquire it, an air-mouse is available for an additional fee.

As for its interface ports, the new device offers a single HDMI output, an audio line out, two USB 2.0 host ports and 1 micro-USB OTG.

The company expects to begin shipping the new product to Indiegogo backers come March of next year. As for the rest of the world, the global launch is scheduled to commence the following month, April 2016.
