Former Power Ranger Ricardo Medina Jr Arrested For Murder

Power Rangers Samurai Murder

Ricardo Medina Jr. is a former Power Ranger, one of the stars of “Power Rangers Samurai,” and according to recent reports, he’s been arrested for allegedly murdering his roommate with a samurai-esque weapon, a sword.

A report by The Wrap published on Yahoo TV, indicated that the television actor was currently being held on a bail set at $1 million. The report also indicated that Joshua Sutter, the alleged murderer’s roommate, was the victim in the incident, according to a spokesman for the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department who spoke to The Wrap.

Medina allegedly used a sword to fatally stab Sutter.

The incident occurred at roughly 3:45 pm. on Saturday, at a residence located in the 38000 block of San Francisquito Canyon Road, which is roughly 45 miles north of the Civic Center.

The suspect and victim allegedly got into a fight, the murder suspect then retreated to his bedroom with his girlfriend, but the victim forced his way into the bedroom, and Medina then stabbed him once in the abdomen with a sword he kept behind his bedroom door.

Medina received his break in Hollywood when he was cast as the Red Ranger on “Power Rangers Wild Force” back in 2002 and later went on to play Dekker on “Power Rangers Samurai.” The “Power Rangers Samurai” series ran from 2011 to 2012 and featured Japanese cartoon-like action.

After the stabbing, Medina called 911 and waited for law enforcement to arrive. He was then arrested and booked on suspicion of murder by L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies. Mr. Sutter was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Producer Haim Saban owns the rights to the “Power Rangers” franchise. Saban sold the rights in the 1990s and later repurchased them in 2011.

Plans for a new feature film were announced in 2014.
