Lil Wayne’s Miami Mansion Got Swatted, Not Shot Up

Lil Wayne Miami Mansion Swatted

Reports of alleged gunshots fired at Lil Wayne’s Miami mansion, which was most recently assessed at $9.4 million, appear to have been a hoax known as “swatting,” according to the Miami Beach Police who tweeted that the incident was the result of someone placing “a swatting call.”

Swatting entails dispatching emergency authorities in response to a fake incident. In this case, the called dialed a non-emergency line and claimed to have shot four people at the rapper’s beachfront property in southern Florida.

Prior to the Miami Beach PD’s confirmation that the incident was a hoax and that nobody had been shot, the rapper’s label, Young Money, tweeted a statement indicating that Wayne was not at his Miami mansion “during the alleged events.”

ABC News indicated a report that numerous celebrities have been the victims of the practice known as swatting and that the victims include Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and Tom Cruise.

The name “swatting” is derived from the notion of sending the SWAT team to someone’s house. The Associated Press reported via Yahoo! News that the responding officers to the recent swatting on Wayne’s home included a heavily armed SWAT team.

Shrimp Daddy, who was born Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., has been active in the hip-hop scene since 1996. He’s on his own label, Young Money, Birdman’s Cash Money Records and Republic. He has associated acts with 2 Chainz, Drake, Chris Brown, Rick Ross, T.I., The Game, T-Pain, and many others.

His solo debut album Tha Block Is Hot was released in 1999. It was certified platinum by the RIAA.

The rapper, who is known for hits like “Got Money” and “Lollipop,” was the recipient of the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.

Wayne, whose recently swatted mansion is located on an exclusive Miami Beach island, was in the recording studio at the time of the incident, according to his representative Chris Chambers.
