Jackie Chan’s Son Jaycee Released From Prison After Six Months Served On Marijuana Charge

Jackie and Jaycee Chan

While it might not seem like it, it’s already been six months since Jackie Chan’s son, Jaycee Chan, was incarcerated on drug charges in China stemming from a raid by authorities on his Beijing apartment, as the raid occurred back in August of 2014. Now February, the 32-year-old actor and singer has been released, Xinhua reported.

Jackie’s American born son ultimately plead guilty to allowing people to use marijuana in his apartment amid a crackdown on illegal narcotics in Hong Kong.

Jaycee’s entertainment company confirmed that he had been released from jail, indicating that he left the city’s Dongcheng jail just a few minutes after midnight on Thursday, according to the AP who also indicated that photos conveyed a chaotic scene in which reporters chased his car and surrounded it at a toll station. The entertainment company’s statement thanked the media as well as their fans for their concern while indicating that Chan was scheduled to hold a press conference this upcoming Saturday in which he’ll “apologize and explain.”

The elder Chan, Jackie, was appointed the official Narcotics Control Ambassador by the Chinese police back in 2009, we reported here on Immortal News back in January in a report which quoted the kung fu martial artist as having said that he was angry, shocked, ashamed and heartbroken in regards to “the issue” with his son Jaycee.

Regarding the issue with my son Jaycee, I feel very angry and very shocked. As a public figure, I’m very ashamed. As a father, I’m heartbroken.

Jaycee was fined 2,000 yuan (or roughly $320) for his crimes. His sentence, which could have carried as much as three years in prison, included a total of six months in prison.

The last time Jackie tweeted his son’s name on his Twitter account was on January 25, 2014 when he said that he was both “happy” as well as “surprised” that his son was making birthday preparations for him.

Do you think Jaycee’s six-month sentence was fair?
