Richest One Percent Will Have More Control Of Wealth In 2016

Coin Money

It really isn’t anything new to say that the wealthiest people in the country and even in the world control almost everything. Many people say that although money doesn’t provide happiness, it goes without saying that none of us can actually live without it. According to a report by Yahoo News on Jan. 19, those who are the wealthiest among us now don’t just have control over everything already but will have more control over the world’s wealth even more so in 2016.

Oxfam executive director, Winnie Byanyima had this to say about it:

The scale of global inequality is quite simply staggering and despite the issues shooting up the global agenda, the gap between the richest and the rest is widening fast.

This is the problem with our world today. We are all supposed to be equal but when it really comes down to it, the rich really do have say-so over everything in our world. Money really does do all of the talking.

The statistics are really quite staggering as well. Also, according to the report on Yahoo News, the share of global wealth controlled by the rich increased by 44 percent in 2009 to 48 percent in 2014. Not only this, but it will increase to 50 percent by 2016.

According to The Week, 80 of the richest people in the world control $1.9 trillion which is almost the same amount that is controlled by the 3.5 billion who are at the bottom of the income scale in the world.

Check out this study to read about some suggestions to help reduce income inequality in the world. What some are trying to do right now is tackle problems with tax evasion, improve public services, tax capital instead of labor, and bring on more living wages.

The 45th world economic forum runs between Wednesday and Saturday to have a discussion about this issue. There will be more than 300 state and government officials attending the forum.

What do you think about this? Do you agree that we can’t live without money? We do, after all, have to pay our bills and keep food on our tables so without money, we can’t live. Sound off with your opinion on this problem in the comments section below and let everyone know what you think.
