Mark Zuckerberg Starts New Book Club: Invites All Followers

Apparently, Mark Zuckerberg has chosen his favorite New Year’s resolution out of all of the many that were suggested for him. According to a report by Yahoo Finance on Jan. 4, the New Year’s resolution he has chosen is to read one book every other week for the whole year. Now, since he has chosen this resolution, he has also started his own book club and has even invited all of his 30 million followers to join in with him. As of right now, he has 197,366 likes on the page he created just for the new book club.

Zuckerberg’s new book club is called, ‘A Year of Books.’ The first book for him and his followers to read is called, ‘The End of Power’ by Moises Naim. He has also started a post for everyone to discuss this book on. He has stated for everyone to leave their comments about the book and to stay on topic with it.

According to MSN, Zuckerberg had this to say about his love of books:

I’m excited for my reading challenge. I’ve found reading books very intellectually fulfilling. Books allow you to fully explore a topic and immerse yourself in a deeper way than most media today.

His followers totally agree with him and will be reading the book along with him. They will read one book every two weeks and having a discussion about it on his page. His followers are going to be in for a huge surprise by going along with him reading a book every other week because his tastes in reading include celebrity memoirs, science, science fiction, biographies, and books about Ancient Greece and Rome. He has said his very favorite book right now is Virgil’s ‘The Aeneid’ and uses quotes from it during his interviews. He also enjoys Plato, Orson Scott Card, and he has read Jay Z’s ‘Decoded’, the ‘Biography of Albert Einstein’ by Walter Isaacson, and ‘The Information’ by science writer, James Gleick.

Although Zuckerberg has started this new book club, we will see if he will pass up Oprah Winfrey with members. Currently, Ms. Winfrey is the queen with her huge book club. However, other book clubs have been started by ‘Good Morning America’ and ‘Today.’

What do you think about the Facebook co-founder starting a new book club? Will you be joining in on the fun? Check out his page above and like and follow to join in with him and everyone else who has joined. This should be a fun way to learn about new things and be able to relax for a little while with a great book in your hands.
