Teenage Girl Wakes Up During Brain Surgery: Asks ‘How’s It Going?’

A 19 year old woman from Poland was undergoing brain surgery to have a cancerous growth removed. However, according to a report by Fox News on Jan. 2, the teenager, Iga Jasica, woke up in the middle of her operation and asked the doctor’s ‘how’s it going?’ She also brought up something about cats. Although she ended up waking up while they were removing the cancerous growth from her brain and her brain was exposed, she didn’t get hurt. She was alert but didn’t feel anything while they were cutting on her head.

Although she did come around, doctors said she wasn’t able to see or feel anything. Her health wasn’t in danger. However, since she ended up waking up after being given the anesthetics to put her to sleep, doctors are now investigating what caused the anesthetic to wear off so soon. They are trying to determine whether the anesthetic was even administered to her correctly or if something happened while the surgery was underway that may have caused her to wake up the way she did.

According to News.com.au, Ms. Jasica later stated:

I can’t remember much, but the doctor said he talked to me about cats, which I love. I missed Christmas because of this operation, but it is the best present I could have had as I am now feeling great.

Although she was talking to the doctor’s when she woke up in the middle of her brain surgery, Jasica does not remember anything about it.
