Toddler Shoots, Kills Mother At Idaho Walmart

A mother was shot and killed by her two-year-old son when the toddler grabbed a loaded gun from her purse in a Hayden, Idaho Walmart Tuesday morning reports CNN.

The 29-year-old woman’s name has not yet been released until family could be notified. The child was reportedly  sitting in a shopping cart when he grabbed the weapon and shot the woman in an apparent accident. The woman was shopping with the child and several other children when the accident occurred around 10:20 am.

Sheriff Ben Wolfinger and Lt. Stu Miller said the following: “The shooting appears to be accidental, It appears that the victim brought several of her children here to do some shopping after the holidays. The child looks like to be sitting in the shopping cart with the purse while the female victim was shopping.”

The Walmart store immediately closed the store while authorities investigated. Store officials released the following statement: “A very sad incident happened in our store in Hayden, Idaho that involved a female customer. We are working closely with the local sheriff’s department as they investigate what happened.”

Employees were seen leaving the store been none talked about the tragedy. Councilors are being made available for employees who may need to talk about what happened.

Walmart has responded to questions and some criticism asking why their policy still allows customers to bring firearms on the premises, saying that they follow state and federal law – Idaho is a concealed carry state and the victim reportedly had all needed permits.
