ISIS Leader’s Wife, Son Captured In Lebanon

Lebanese authorities have a wife and son of the Islamic State’s leader in custody. The two were detained ten days ago at the Lebanon border with fake identification cards.

Officials have refused to provide details about the woman who is believed to be a wife of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of ISIS.

Lebanon announced the arrests while attempting to reach a prisoner exchange arrangement between the country and ISIS and Al Qaedas Nusra Front, who have over twenty Lebanese soldiers, Fox News reported.

Officials spoke on condition of anonymity. The nationality of the woman is unknown, as is the age of the child. Officials did not say how they determined the pair were related to Al-Baghdadi. The woman was described as a “powerful figure heavily involved in ISIS.”

Two officials gave the woman’s name as Saja Hamid al-Dulaimi. She is currently be questioned as the army is not sure how much information she has about ISIS operations, the New York Times reported.

We still don’t know how valuable she is. The investigation is still focused on whether Dulaimi is really Baghdadi’s wife.

Al-Baghdadi has declared himself the caliph, or ruler of all Muslims. ISIS controls a large area of northern Syria and western Iraq. Very little is known about Al-Baghdadi’s personal life, such as how many wives and children he has.

ISIS has grown more powerful under Al-Baghdadi’s leadership, taking over large areas of territory in Syria and Iraq in the last few years. It has used brutal tactics to do so, including mass kidnappings, killings and rapes against civilians and fighters.

The U.S. State Department’s Reward for Justice program, which refers to the leader as Abu Du’a, has a $10 million reward for information that leads to his arrest, CNN reported.
