While speaking at the premier of a film that rejects the science on climate change, former Gov. of Alaska Sarah Palin took a moment to target science educator Bill Nye. According to CNN, Palin said, “Bill Nye is as much a scientist as I am.” She added, “He’s a kid’s show actor, he’s not a scientist.” Palin then asked the audience to educate their children to question climate change, rather than accept the scientific evidence presented to them and “not just believe what Bill Nye the Science Guy is trying to tell them”.

Bill Nye, an engineer and graduate of Cornell University’s School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, became a subject in her speech because the film she was promoting features an excerpt of Nye discussing climate change and individuals who create controversy over the science. According to Fortune, the film ‘Climate Hustle’ aims to debunk the overwhelming body of evidence on climate change and reveal that anthropogenic climate warming is a hoax.

America desperately deserves to hear real science and real facts currently ignored on this issue of changes in the weather.

In a Facebook post Palin wrote, “The Left’s intolerance for questioning the groupthink around “Global Warming” and its disdain for those of us asking for scientific FACTS on climate change is the biggest hustle of our time…America desperately deserves to hear real science and real facts currently ignored on this issue of changes in the weather.” Weather refers to short-term pattern changes in the atmosphere, while climate refers to long-term pattern changes. Climate change is when there are significant changes to long-term patterns and “changes in the weather”, severe changes that concern scientists and leaders worldwide, are a result of climate change.

Following Palin’s comments, Nye tweeted:
