Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has, according to TMZ, yet to respond to the divorce papers his wife, Oscar winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow, sent him in 2015. Paltrow filed for divorce in April of last year and sent the legal documents to Martin on May 18, 2015. Since Martin hasn’t filed a response yet, the case has laid dormant for almost a year.

Judges have taken note and informed the celebrity couple of their situation. In this case, Paltrow could get a default judgement, which means she would receive whatever she asked for in the divorce papers. 43-year-old Paltrow and 38-year-old Martin, who have two children together (Apple, 11, and Moses, nine) made headlines when they announced their separation via Paltrow’s website Goop by calling it a ‘Conscious Uncoupling’. The Internet ridiculed the term, and the couple had to clarify their intent and the meaning of their chosen phrase many times following the 2014 announcement. Paltrow asked for joint custody of their children in her divorce papers, so the duo can keep co-parenting together.

Daily Mail reported that Martin spoke to NME after his divorce was made public, saying that he and Paltrow want to “maintain a friendship” because of the effect animosity between the two could have on their two young children, if they read about their “parents not liking each other”.

If you have kids and they start reading about their parents not liking each other, that’s not good. We just spent a long time trying to maintain a friendship so there wouldn’t have to be any kind of battle.

Since the couple have taken an amicable stance, it is likely that Martin simply forgot to file a response to the divorce papers. After the star couple announced their break-up, Martin has been linked to actress Jennifer Lawrence and Annabelle Wallis, who he is still apparently dating.
