Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale are now parents to a baby boy. The couple had their first child together on February 1, 2016 – a son they’ve named Rocco. Cannavale appeared on CBS‘s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Friday and joked about how much weight he has put on since his wife had their baby, saying he “gained 28 pounds since Monday.”
I had a baby on Monday, yes. You know, I didn’t do anything. We [men] don’t do anything and I’m so tired. I think I’ve gained 28 pounds since Monday. I mean, I’m not kidding you, like, this jacket fit so well, like, last Thursday. But I’ve been eating so much.
Stephen Colbert also asked Cannavale if his new baby was named after Saint Rocco. To which the actor replied, “Actually, yeah, patron saint of the sick … pretty sure. Could be wrong. I’m tired.”
LA Times reports that Cannavale’s friend Al Pacino sent the couple a “diaper cake” to commemorate the special occasion. “He gave me a diaper cake for the baby, it was like a big cake made of diapers,” the actor said.
Rocco is 36-year-old Byrne’s first child and 45-year-old Cannavale’s second child. The Boardwalk Empire actor also has a 20-year-old son called Jake Cannavale from his first wife Jenny Lumet.
The happy couple who first started dating in 2012 have made three movies together: Annie, Adult Beginners, and Spy which was recently nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
“Making a film is an intense experience. To experience it with your boyfriend is quite fun,” Byrne told US Weekly.
The Australian star was first rumoured to be pregnant when she stepped out with a baby bump while boarding a flight at LAX; Cannavale later confirmed the rumours stating that he was the father. Byrne and Cannavale recently took their son on his first public outing in New York, see the photos here.
