A police officer with the Little Rock Police Department in Arkansas has been shot while off-duty after three men entered a local Red Lobster restaurant with the intent of robbing the joint.
The three suspects then exchanged gunfire with the off-duty officer, whose name has not yet been released. In the flurry of bullets, the officer and one of the suspects were shot.
The other two suspects involved in the robbery attempt fled and according to ABC News, are still at large.
All three suspects involved in the robbery attempt are male.
None of the injuries sustained in the ordeal were life-threatening. Both the injured suspect and officer were transported to a hospital.
The Little Rock Police Department shared a status update on the injured officer via Twitter which indicated that the officer was not only “alert and talking,” but that his injuries were “NOT life threatening.”

Shortly before the tweet, the department indicated that Crime Scene Units (CSU) were “processing the scene” of the shooting.
The suspect who was injured in the shootout was taken into custody.
Following the shooting, the local police department indicated that the officer was “in stable condition” following the shooting incident.

The shooting occurred just after 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Saturday was National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.
According to Little Rock Police Chief Kenton Buckner, the injured office interrupted the robbery attempt.
One of the suspects is a black male who was wearing a tan jack and dark colored pants during the attempted robbery, according to the LRPD.
The suspect who was shot, according to Chief Buckner, was located a few blocks from the Red Lobster at which he was shot.
