Amanda Blackburn Murder: Husband Not Suspect, Police Pursue Killer

Police investigating the death of a pregnant mom who was found dead in her home have said that her pastor husband is not a suspect and are now offering a reward for people who can help identifying the killer.

The victim was Amanda Blackburn, 28. She was found shot in the head at her home on Tuesday when her husband, Pastor Davey Blackburn, returned to his house from the gym.

Noting the evidence left behind by the killer, Eric Hench of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said:

To the individual who committed this crime: You are not as good as you think you are.

According to Capt. Craig Converse, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has a lot of “angry” and “tired” detectives trying to solve the murder. Reports say many police officers were visibly shaken by the case.

Amanda Blackburn, who was 12 weeks pregnant at the time, died the following day at a local hospital, according to police. Indianapolis Metro Police Sgt. Kendale Adams said that the husband and other family members are not suspects. A local LA Fitness has supplied time-stamped surveillance footage that shows Pastor Blackburn arriving and leaving the gym that morning.

The couple’s young child was home at the time of the home invasion and Adams said that security footage from neighboring houses has been collected as part of their investigation. He also said that part of the investigation will attempt to answer if the Blackburn home invasion is connected to other break-ins that have occurred recently in the area.

An earlier burglary in the Northwestside neighborhood, where the Blackburn home is located, appears to be connected to the case. There were no signs of forced entry into the home but police say they believe the killer may have taken advantage of Davey Blackburn’s absence when he left to go work out.
