Alabama First Lady Dianne Files For Divorce From Governor Robert Bentley

Alabama Governor Divorce

First Lady of Alabama Dianne Bentley is seeking a divorce from her husband, Governor Robert Bentley.

She filed court documents Friday morning about thirty minutes before making a public appearance with the governor, reports ABC News.

The Bentleys were married on July 24, 1965. Times Free Press reports that according to the complaint filed in Tuscaloosa, the two separated in January of 2015.

The complaint states that the couple’s 50-year marriage has suffered “an irretrievable breakdown and that further attempts at reconciliation are impractical and not in the best interests of the parties.”

The Plaintiff states there is such a complete incompatibility of temperament that the parties can no longer live together. There exists a conflict of personalities which destroys the legitimate aims of matrimony and all possibilities of reconciliation are futile. Plaintiff further avers that their marriage has suffered an irretrievable breakdown and that further attempts at reconciliation are impractical and not in the best interests of the parties.

Governor Bentley was re-elected for his second term in November 2014.

The Bentleys aren’t the only long-time-married couple to make the news over their impending breakup.

Last week Megan Fox filed for divorce from her husband Brian Austin Green, ending a five-year marriage and ten-year relationship. Fox is apparently feeling stressed out by the needs of her husband and two children at home in addition to her budding acting career.

Last month, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck announced their split after ten years of marriage. The two have plans of remaining amiable and co-parenting their three children, with Affleck remaining on the family property living in a separate building.
