Kelly Clarkson Pregnant: Singer Announces Pregnancy During Emotional Performance

Kelly Clarkson "Totally Pregnant"

Kelly Clarkson, 33, revealed that she’s pregnant with her second child on Wednesday during her stop at the Staples Center on her Los Angeles tour.

According to People Magazine, Clarkson was singing “Piece By Piece,” when she made the surprise announcement to a cheering crowd.

Reportedly, the singer was having a rough time getting through the song. The former American Idol winner was struggling to get a handle on her emotions and kept breaking down in tears.

Clarkson stopped mid-song and told the crowd, “I was not planning on announcing this, but . . . I’m totally pregnant.” The song, which is about her own father and a nod to her husband for being a good father, was too much for her emotions. “I’m having a really hard time,” she said.

I was not planning on announcing this, but … I’m totally pregnant. I’m having a really hard time.

The three-time Grammy winner made the unplanned announcement to her fans as an explanation for her inability to get through the song. The singer was worried her emotional state would be blamed on substance abuse. “I just don’t want you to think I’m on pills or drunk,” she explained.

I’m gonna nail the s— out of this song. That was not how I wanted to announce that … I hate this song right now. My makeup artist is backstage hating me right now. I just don’t want you to think I’m on pills or drunk.

Clarkson and her husband, Brandon Blackstock, are the proud parents of River Rose, their first child born in July of 2014, according to ABC News.

Speaking of unexpected events during a performance, last June Foo Fighters lead singer David Grohl broke his leg during a concert in Sweden when he fell off the stage. Grohl finished the show, much to the delight of his fans.
