Lamborghini Goes Open Air With Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce Roadster

Lamborghini Emblem

Lamborghini has unveiled its powerful open-topped Lambo at Pebble Beach and Monterey Car Week. An open-air version of the Aventador LP750-4 SV, this Superveloce is able to exceed 217 miles per hour at top speed. The new SV’s acceleration is also superb, as it is able to go from 0 to 60 in less than three seconds.

The removable roof pieces are made from carbon fiber, unlike the Roadster’s cloth top that could be damaged during high speed driving. Automobile Magazine expects this model to shed a few more pounds of weight to enable the new car to meet the Superveloce status, though Stephan Winkelmann’s Lamborghini has not released all of the information regarding the vehicle’s specifications yet.

In his own words, Winkelmann called the fresh Superveloce Roadster “the purest, most sports-oriented and fastest series production Lamborghini ever,” according to USA Today. “The Roadster version represents our commitment to satisfying our passionate clients with immensely emotional driving dynamics combined with an extraordinary open air experience.” This Aventador is powered by a 12-cylinder, 6.5-liter engine and a 7-speed transmission.

Superveloce is the purest, most sports-oriented and fastest series production Lamborghini ever.

Auto Express (UK) took note of several of the Superveloce Roadster’s outstanding features, including a gaping rear diffuser, slashed side-sills, the jutting front bumper, and its giant motorsport-style fixed rear wing. The same V12 engine as its hardtop counterpart will be used. Other features brought over from the hardtop model may include adaptive steering to help keep the SV planted on solid ground.

The first deliveries will likely be made in spring 2016, with a selection of five bodywork colors available to buyers. Buyers will have a wide array of personalization options available to them, or they can allow Lamborghini to take care of those details.

The car is priced at over half a million dollars, and only 500 of its type will be manufactured. Winkelmann has claimed that interest has already been generated in the Lamborghini market.
