FBI Busy Along Multiple Fronts, From Murder By Cop To Threat Via Twitter

One week after the death of an African-American man following a physical altercation with a white police officer, residents are still searching for answers to the tragic event which unfolded in Stonewall, Mississippi. Residents are left in a state of limbo as an investigation on the local, state, and federal level ensues.

On the night of July 8, 2015, Jonathan Sanders died in Stonewall while exercising a horse on a two-wheeled buggy, but the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations (MBI) has stated it is still too soon to discuss.

According to the Boston Herald, a Jackson attorney representing members of the Sanders’ family, Chokwe Antar Lumumba, said that the officer involved, Kevin Herrington, is to blame for the death of Jonathan Sanders. Meanwhile, the Clark County District Attorney, Bilbo Mitchell, is repeating the refrain of the authorities: that is still too soon to say, as “the investigation isn’t complete.”

I assume there may be some who may be wondering why there hasn’t been an arrest. That’s because the investigation isn’t complete.

The Stonewall police department does not currently implement video cameras either mounted on squad cars nor on the bodies of police officers. However, there were multiple witness in the residential neighborhood where Sanders died, including the officer in questions wife– who was in the police car.

The prospects are grim for an indictment, Mitchell said that in his 28 years of working for the Clark County District Attorney, he has brought fewer than 15 officers before a grand jury and not once, at least not that he can recollect, has he seen an officer indicted.

And while this small town of less than 2,000 in Mississippi is getting national attention, a well-known presidential candidate is getting some attention from a certain drug lord who you probably wouldn’t want to know you even exist.

Donald Trump released a series of tweets on Sunday, pointing out the corruption in Mexico while saying that the U.S. is paying the price. He goes on to attack Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton by asking if you could envision them negotiating with “El Chapo”(Joaquin Guzman Loera). And his final tweet is what prompted an investigation by the FBI. Trump tweeted that if it were him (negotiating with “El Chapo”), he would “kick his ass!”, Us Weekly reported.

On an unverified account, “El Chapo” allegedly replied to Donald Trump’s tweets with a less than amiable remark: “Continue f—ing around and I will make you swallow your whore words f—ing white [slur for those with blonde or red hair]”.

An aid for Donald Trump released a statement Monday verifying that the FBI was indeed “actively investigating” the threats against Mr. Trump. And Donald Trump, ever resilient, said that he is “fighting for the future of our country” and “you can’t be intimidated”.

I’m fighting for much more than myself. I’m fighting for the future of our country which is being overrun by criminals. You can’t be intimidated. This is too important.

The FBI has made no statement regarding the aforementioned investigations, as a bureau spokesperson told Reuters that it is standard operating procedure to “neither confirm nor deny FBI investigations.”

Who do you think would win a fight, El Chapo or Trump?
