Audi Confirms R8 Turbocharger And Today You Can Drive One For Free

Audi R8

It’s an exciting week to be a car lover. Audi officials have recently confirmed that their R8 model is to be fitted with a turbocharged engine, World Car Fans reports. Alongside the engine boost, the company is also giving car enthusiasts the opportunity to drive their dream car for free under the company’s ‘Supercars on Demand‘ program.

Professor Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg claims that the changes to the company’s supercar were “inevitable.”

It is inevitable that we will go to a turbocharged motor for it at some point. It would be in this model cycle, to give us a fuller range.

Quattro GmbH Managing Director Heinz Peter Hollerweger has confirmed that a turbocharged engine is to be added in the future to replace the car’s already impressive 4.2-liter V8.

Presently, specifics have not been divulged but the rumor mill is in full swing leading to suggestions that the latest engine might resemble a turbocharged 2.5-liter five cylinder engine or a twin-turbo V6.

For motor enthusiasts unable to wait for the engine changes, an opportunity to get up close and personal with their favorite cars is scheduled for Wednesday, as Business Standard reports that the ‘Supercars on Demand’ service is all set to allow drivers to test drive some of their favorite rides.

Online marketplace Droom has partnered with Uber to enable drivers to drive their favorite car. All they need to do is use the Uber app between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. in order to select their preferred supercar. The service offers drivers a total of nine luxury cars including exotics, pre-owned and those with some seriously classy options. The cars are also on sale for those who wish to take their favorite car home with them.

Audi, founded in 1899 by August Horch, is one of Germany’s oldest car manufacturers instantly recognizable due to the four ring motif that emblazons its vehicles, used to symbolize the merging of four classic car companies; Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer.

What’s your favorite supercar?
