Activists Want Bill Cosby And Donald Trump’s Stars Removed From The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Hollywood Walk of Fame Star

On July 10, Fox News reported that black civil rights leaders had called for Bill Cosby’s star to be removed from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where it resides alongside such stars as Halle Berry and Tim Allen, in the wake of recent revelations regarding his ongoing sex scandal.

Cosby’s detractors announced that if his star were to remain, the famous American landmark could become known as “the walk of shame.”

The 80s star shot to fame as the titular character in family friendly comedy That Cosby Show. He remained famous well into the 2000s with a smattering of comedic roles in common entertainment franchises. Cosby’s popularity nosedived when a plethora of young women came forward to announce that Cosby had sexually assaulted them. The verdict remained neutral until recently when Cosby’s under oath confession — that he had supplied women with Quaaludes, a hypnotic sedative drug, in order to have sex with them — was made public.

Najee Ali, a prolific name amongst Cosby’s detractors said that Cosby had “betrayed the trust of the community” and said that his star should subsequently be removed from the Hollywood walk which includes a deluge of famous names including Marilyn Monroe, Tom Hanks and Britney Spears.

Cosby to black America is an icon, but once an icon figure betrays the trust of the community, we have to withdraw our support and condemn their actions. If they don’t remove that star, we can call it the walk of shame.

Cosby received his star in 1977. His star is situated between Hollywood Boulevard and North Highland Avenue. The star has since been vandalized with the term “rapist” a total of three times since news broke.

US Magazine reports that despite the furor, a representative for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce declared that the star would not be removed as it is part of the “historical fabric” of Hollywood.

Once a star has been added to the Walk, it is considered a part of the historic fabric of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Because of this, we have never removed a star from the Walk.

LA Times reports that Donald Trump is facing a similar fate after making racist comments regarding Mexicans, as he referred to Mexican immigrants as “rapists” who bring drugs and crime into America.

They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists.
