Tommy Chong ‘Using Cannabis Like Crazy’ Following Rectal Cancer Diagnosis

Tommy Chong Cancer

Tommy Chong from Cheech & Chong, one half of the Grammy Award-winning duo, has reportedly been diagnosed with rectal cancer is subsequently “using cannabis like crazy” while undergoing treatment.

The 77-year-old actor and comedian is no certainly no stranger to marijuana nor cancer for that matter, as he told CNN‘s Don Lemon back in 2012 that he was treating his prostate cancer “with hemp oil” and cannabis.

I’ve got prostate cancer, and I’m treating it with hemp oil, with cannabis (…) So (legalizing marijuana) means a lot more to me than just being able to smoke a joint without being arrested… I’m taking it as a medicine.

The revelation of his rectal cancer diagnosis was revealed by the veteran actor to Us Weekly on Tuesday at the 826LA 10th anniversary bash down in Santa Monica, California. He was quoted by Us Weekly as having said that he’s “had some medical issues lately” which include a rectal cancer diagnosis.

I’ve had some medical issues lately (…) I got diagnosed with rectal cancer.

But on the upside, if there is an upside, the actor claims he’s now “using cannabis like crazy” and while that might not seem like anything out of the ordinary for the vocal advocate for the decriminalization of marijuana, he claims he’s actually using more cannabis “than ever before,” Us Weekly reported.

I’m using cannabis like crazy now, more so than ever before (…) I’m in treatment now. I’ve been-just the case either way, either I get healed or I don’t. But either way, I’m going to make sure I get a little edge off or put up.

In other cannabis related coverage, marijuana is now legal in Alaska where the Anchorage Police Department has raided the Alaska Cannabis Club owned by former TV anchor Charlene Greene for alleged criminal activity. Also, Grown Ups star Nadji Jeter was arrested for a marijuana DUI in Burbank, California earlier this year.

A recent study found a link between smoking cigarettes and 12 different types of cancer.
